Aviation Auxiliary Systems (AVS) and Aeromax presented joint projects for the development of unmanned aerial systems under the SmartHELI brand within the framework of the XIV International Helicopter Industry Exhibition HeliRussia 2021. The HeliRussia 2021 exhibition was held from May 20 to May 22 at the Crocus Expo IEC (Moscow).
The new line of unmanned aerial vehicles differs from the previous models in capacity, range and speed of cruising flight. The UAVs are able to stay in the air for up to 7 hours and are applicable in difficult climatic conditions.
The flagships of the current project are unmanned helicopter-type aerial vehicles SmartHELI-450 with a maximum take-off weight of up to 450 kg and SmartHELI-550 with a maximum take-off weight of 550 kg. In April 2021, the flight tests of these new modifications was started.
Also on the AVS stand was presented one of the previous modifications — SmartHELI-350 with a maximum take-off weight of up to 350 kg.
These are the only unmanned aerial systems in their class with UAVs for civil purposes, which are based on artificial intelligence technologies. The technologies allow the UAVs to independently perform an autonomous flight, navigating among obstacles and various objects.
The vision system software combines data received from various payloads, such as an optoelectronic system (OES), a position radar station, LIDAR sensors, an automatic landing system, and additional monitoring devices. At the same time, payloads and other equipment are also presented at the stand.
The production of the UAVs with an increased maximum take-off weight expands the capabilities of the SmartHELI brand vehicles in terms of solving logistics tasks: activities in the field of monitoring objects and territories by installing various combinations of payloads. In addition, new vehicles are being developed taking into account the needs of customers to install their own systems as payloads.
Alexander Kurnikov, CEO of Aviation Auxiliary Systems said: "We are united with Aeromax not only by the sphere of interests, but also by the commitment to results, the desire to be market leaders, and we see great potential in cooperation with such a strong partner. The strategic partnership and technological cooperation with Aeromax will strengthen AVS' position in the development and promotion of unmanned aerial systems in the domestic and foreign markets, and will accelerate the company's scaling process through new competencies in the development of integrated solutions."
Valery Shantsev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aeromax said: "Aeromax is the largest integrator of solutions with the use of UAS on the Russian market, able to develop and implement innovative solutions with a wide range of applications in various sectors of the economy: from agriculture to construction, as well as able to meet the needs of any customer through a full cycle of equipment production and software development. Close cooperation with our partners on the creation and implementation of technological solutions, payloads and UAS helps in-demand products quickly enter the application market. The result of a joint project with the AVS was two unmanned aerial systems with heli-type unmanned aerial vehicles.
These aircraft effectively solve the tasks of monitoring territories or objects of a large area, and perform the delivery of various goods. The share of domestic components is 90%.
